Collegiate Church St. Cyriakus Gernrode

Collegiate-Church-St-Cyriakus-Gernrode

For the first time the Collegiate Church was mentioned in 961. It is one of oldest churches in North Europe. After extensive reconstructing most of the original Ottonian appearance has been restored. It is one of the few surviving examples of Ottonian architecture. Worth visiting is the chapel containing a late 11th century copy of the grave of Christ. It is one of the oldest of its kind in Germany.
